Searching for the Perfect Jeans

Love this jeans with leather look

One of my New Year’s resolutions was to find the perfect pair of jeans. So far I haven’t had much success, and I have been looking. I did get a lead on some jeans in my price range but when I finally found my size the two available were in colors that I didn’t like. My resolution also includes not purchasing clothing that comes close. I have way too many items in my closet that come close to what I want but is not exactly what I'm looking for.

Finding exactly what I want isn’t all that easy. First off I’m kind of a weird size. I need longs because my inseam in long. While a typical pair of jeans is 32 inches in the inseam it’s not enough for me. I need at least a 33 and a 34 would be perfect. Unfortunately, jeans, unlike slacks, are generous and many longs come in 35 and 36 inch lengths. Just a little too much fabric, hemming jeans can also be tricky. You don’t want them to look like they’ve been hemmed.

Look for a rise that is 8-10 inches for the most flattering look

I have found interesting tips during my search. Plain pockets look best on everyone. The more you have on the pockets the more likely you are to have problems with the view from the rear. Find jeans with no flaps, distressing or embellishments on the pockets. Also look for jeans with a little bit of stretch. A pair of jeans with 2% spandex will hold to your body without producing bagging or sagging. You’ll look smooth and stay comfortable as the jeans with give instead of bind with your movements and then go right back into shape.

I’ve also found out that skinny jeans work with just about any shoe. This is a bonus if you don’t want to buy a new pair of shoes to go with your jeans. You can wear flats, pumps, sandals and boots with skinny jeans. Just remember that they look best with a top that is untucked and loose. Also don’t be afraid to wear a longer top with a short cropped jacket. The proportions will be alright, just keep it casual. So my search continues and I’m not worried yet, there’s still a lot of year left.
The bags in these jeans are very unflattering, avoid the bag and sag

  1. Love jeans with a little bit of stretch! They are so much more comfortable for me. Also, I totally agree about the pockets, flat pockets are much more flattering than those with a button.
