Natalie Portman is a spring headband "do"
Today is the first day of spring and according to the weather people in my area, it’s going to be cold. It’s currently 49 degrees outside and the past weekend was ushered in by rain, wind and freezing temperatures, nothing like this past January and February. I live in California, the San Francisco Bay Area to be precise, and I have to admit that the past couple of months have been beautiful. We’ve had unseasonably warm weather, no rain and lots of sunshine. I’ve been kind of spoiled. This recent round of bad weather has even prompted me to buy a pair of fur lined boots, and boy was I glad to have them this past week.
Go for one sparkly band
It looks like our seasons are a little out of whack, which is a shame since there are so many cute dresses and spring clothes available. When the weather was gorgeous I was thinking about getting a pedicure so I can start wearing sandals. I even went so far as to take stock of what sandals I had from last year. Now I’m not so sure. Spring usually brings with it the promise of lighter clothing, cute sandals and pretty jewelry. Nothing looks better than a pretty spring dress and sparkly jewelry. I’m also partial to sparkly headbands which are on trend for spring. I was looking forward to wearing some of my spring dresses and light cardigans, but alas, it is not to be.
Or maybe two thin bands
I’m back in my heavy sweaters, layers and scarves. The fur lined boots, heavy jeans and of course my trench that is worn for the rain has been the outfit of choice for the past week. It is a little discouraging after so much sunshine. I’ve also found that some of my cutest bracelets are getting lost within the layers of cuffs from all my sweaters and shirts; I have been relegated to wearing rings on every finger. Although not a bad look, I would like to try some of the light sweaters I purchased when the weather was good. I found a couple of nautical themed sweaters in January and though they would be cute with skinny jeans and loafers, a very spring look. The old fashioned rule of not wearing white until spring kept these items in my closet and now it’s too cold to wear them, bummer!
Paris Hilton's sparkly headband is a "don't"
So for now I’m greeting spring wrapped in some heavy scarves and sweaters while sitting in front of the fireplace. So the sandals go back in their boxes and the dresses will just have to wait. Although the sparkly thin headband might stay out. It’s cold but not so cold that I will succumb to wearing a hat and if you can’t wear jewelry on your wrists or neck, why not wear it in your hair or on your head. The sparkly headband might be just the thing to bring spring closer and transition from winter. Since I’m sure the warm weather will come on suddenly without warning it might be a good idea to find some jewelry or sparkly accessories that work well now and into the rest of the year. After all, we need to plan for the future.
