There was an article by Jennifer Heebner for JCK Magazine where she discusses Ponte Vecchio’s Italian jeweled shoe that has 86.20 ctw citrine, 23.90 ctw smokey quartz, 16.10 ctw garnet, 5.35 ctw ruby and .05 ctw diamonds, all set in 18K gold. The shoe has this beautiful “bracelet” of gems that is actually an ankle strap when worn with the shoe, and is removable and can be worn as a bracelet. This is the perfect combination of a fashion item, shoes and jewelry. It doesn’t get any better than this!
I love shoes and I love jewelry. These shoes combine the best of these two worlds. Now I’ve seen shoes that have many sparkly attributes and ages ago it was a sign of wealth to wear shoes with silver buckles. Jewelry wasn’t always worn to decorate the body; at times it was worn to compliment the outfit. In fact, if you think about it, other than body jewelry, most jewelry is worn to enhance what you are wearing. Hence the shoe with the sparkly and beautiful bejeweled strap is jewelry and clothing in one. Now I would love to have a pair of these shoes but it appears that they will be running somewhere in the area of 30,000 euros, way out of my budget.
Unfortunately I would have to hold off on purchasing any new clothing and jewelry for quite some time, maybe a life time if I purchased these shoes. Not sure if a sparkly ankle strap stiletto is worth all that, but it is really attractive. It gets me thinking, what if there was a more affordable model. Let’s say, sterling silver instead of gold and maybe drop the diamonds. Gold is relatively expensive right now and could be pushing up the price. Although it is the attractive band of mixed gemstones in different sizes and shapes that really sets off this piece. It has a bold look while adding a lot of glitz. So the next time you are thinking about buying shoes or jewelry, take a look at these babies, you can get two for one!
